in Ireland: a Local Authority Planning Perspective. Event Management, 21(3), 333346. DOI:10.3727/152599517×14942648527545
Event management has become an area of interest in public administration. In the
modern world, it has become a top career aspired by many, just like it is for other
professions. The profession requires patience, dedication, critical thinking, and an innovative
mind. An event planner should have great communication and socialization skills. According
to Maguire & Hanrahan (2017), there is a need for event management regulation as it
adversely affects the economy. According to the authors, in recent years, local authorities are
using events to achieve a variety of economic purposes. The overuse of events in fund
mobilization comes as an expense to the host community and interferes with social capital.
Government regulations should thus be developed and implemented to regulate the use of
events in fund mobilization. The article reveals that many malpractices surround events
aimed at seeking financial support, thus recommending regulation and efficient monitoring.

achievement. The book helps event managers in developing skills, knowledge, and
competencies useful in the event industry. The author incorporates real-world cases and
examples that help an event manager understand the essential skills of an event manager.
