Effects of laws and regulatory agencies on compensation and benefit strategies
Many things may influence compensation of employees in any given organization. Some
of these are external. For example, laws and regulations. So, we should look at the following to
understand this better. A.) FMLA. This stands for family and medical leave act which requires
that employers provide employees with job protected and leave with no pay for qualified medical
and family reason (Imran,2016).
b.) COBRA. This stands for consolidated omnibus budget reconciliation Act. It is a law
that was passed by the us congress that mandates an assurance program to give employees an
ability to continue health cover even after leaving the organization.
c.) HIPAA. This stands for health insurance portability and accountability. This permits
entity to market practically all types of health goods with maybe some few restrictions devoid of
obtaining permission from persons.
d.) ERISA. This stands for employee retirement income security act. This law is a federal
US law tax and labor law that establishes minimum ethics for pension plans in private
organization or rather industries. It contained rules and regulations on the federal income tax
effects of transactions with employee benefit plans.
