This assignment requires each student to identify one sport and recreation facility in their local
community to complete an immersive critical examination of the chosen organization. The
student will have the opportunity to evaluate the organization’s mission, goals, structures,
policies, resources, and human capital. This assignment should be written and formatted
according to APA guidelines. This paper will be turned-in via Turnitin.com when uploaded to
Canvas. All outside information must contain an in-text citation and any evidence of plagiarism
will result in a zero (0) for this assignment.
Part I. – Introduction (10 points)
This report should begin with a two to three paragraph introduction explaining to the reader the
purpose of this immersive study report. This part should be a brief overview of the overall report,
the parts of the completed report, and a brief overview of the relevant findings from parts II – IV.
Part II. – Facility & Organization Profile (15 points)
This section of the report is a comprehensive case study of your chosen organization. It should
be one to two pages in length. Use information from the agency’s website or other resources to

Part III. – Facility Manager/Operations Interview and Site Visit (20 points)
This section of the report compromises of an interview (recommended in-person) however,
skype or phone will suffice when communicated with the professor in advance with a facility
operations manager at their chosen sport and recreation organization. This individual must be the
person who oversees the facility and day-to-day operations.

• Did everyone arrive at the appointed time? (If not, did that have an impact on the

This section of the report will draw from what you have learned in parts two and three to develop
a SWOT analysis of this facility and organizational operations. This should be a thorough review
based on the information you have and any other outside resources you can find about (i.e.,
market growth, political/economic influences, etc.). Make a SWOT analysis chart and then
thoroughly describe and provide rationale for your findings in each category.
Part V. Conclusion: Major Takeaways & Suggestions for Facility and Organization
Improvement (30 points)
From all of the information you have from the organization’s profile, site visit observation,
interview with a facility manager, and SWOT analysis, what can you conclude about this
